It's also important to know that a bow bolt has to be within 30 feet of an animal before it will do any damage at all. A proper shot and some hard work may get you close enough for the bolt to work, but if you're too far away, it's better just to use another weapon.

• Field points are used for shooting targets and can be either fixed or expandable.
• Broadheads have a sharpened, thickened tip made of harder material than the shaft and are designed to pierce the target. They come in different sizes and blade shapes but their purpose is identical. This arrow's tip will split open once it hits the target, even if it didn't fully pierce it at first, making sure that the animal receives enough damage to fall dead.

As they are created with safety in mind, many people use bows to teach young children how to shoot without any danger. They can also be used by people who attempt to teach themselves the art of archery, as they are capable of teaching proper technique without destroying costly equipment.
